About Attorney Sarah Caraffa

Sarah was raised in St. Louis, Missouri by a family of PhD level child psychologists, an upbringing that provided a distinct perspective on family dynamics. As a child of divorce, she benefited from parents who worked diligently to co parent in a healthy, low conflict manner, leading to a deep understanding of the impact separation and divorce can have on children.

She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in social work from Saint Louis University. As a Social Worker, Sarah recognized the significant disparity in access to justice in her community and returned to St. Louis University to pursue a juris doctorate with a focus in public interest law. Following graduation, Sarah worked as an immigration attorney before relocating to Raleigh and joining Legal Aid of North Carolina as a domestic violence advocate.

As a testament to her knowledge and desire to best serve her clients, Sarah met all the requirements for specialization in her field and is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. In 2026, Sarah joined Hatch, Little & Bunn. Her practice encompasses child custody and support, post separation support, alimony, equitable distribution, separation agreements, divorce, and adoption. Sarah also represents parents in federal matters involving international child abduction under the Hague Convention. She is a member of both the North Carolina Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association.

As a transplant, Sarah has zero affiliation with any of the major universities in the area, making her a fabulous advocate whether you are a member of the Wolfpack, a Tar Heel, a Pirate, or a Blue Devil. In her downtime Sarah loves to watch horror movies, catch live music and spend quality time with her family.
