John N. McClain, Jr.
After graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, John went to law school at the University of Tennessee where he was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity. John earned his Juris Doctorate in 1974 and came back to North Carolina to Hatch, Little & Bunn, LLP, where he has practiced for more than 30 years.
John’s practice is primarily focused on civil litigation, with an emphasis on the representation of banks and other lending institutions. He routinely handles collections for his clients.
John is also experienced in family law and divorce. In his representation of both husbands and wives, John attempts to facilitate a resolution of all issues without the need for litigation, thereby saving his clients the financial and emotional costs of courtroom actions. When not possible, he has litigated over 1,000 domestic matters in North Carolina courts.
John has taken cases to the U.S. Supreme Court; the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit; the Federal District Courts for Eastern, Middle and Western North Carolina; and all North Carolina state courts.
John has served as a member of numerous civic groups and organizations during his time in practice, serving on the board of directors of the Wake County Bar Association, Wake County Council on the Aging, Eastern North Carolina Multiple Sclerosis Society, Glenaire Retirement Home and Wake Enterprises. He is a past president of the Raleigh Kiwanis Club.
